Reedy & Sykes Architecture & Design is proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new visitor center at Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park. The Times News featured our firm’s design work in their coverage of the official ceremony, which brought together Tennessee State Parks officials, local leaders, and Friends of Rocky Fork State Park members.
The $6.7 million project, approved by the State Building Commission last June, represents a significant milestone for the park as it continues to grow beyond its 10th anniversary celebration in August.
“After celebrating Rocky Fork State Park’s 10th Anniversary in August, it is exciting to announce that ground has been broken on the construction of a Visitor Center for the park,” said Carrie Hovey, president of the Friends of Rocky Fork State Park, in the Times News article. She noted that our design “will blend seamlessly with the park’s natural landscape.”
Project Scope
The comprehensive renovation includes:
- 5,000-square-foot visitor center featuring interpretive exhibits, gift shop, offices, conference space, and full restroom facilities
- New maintenance building
- Picnic shelter and pavilion
- Improved road access and new driveway
- Pedestrian bridge over Rocky Fork Creek
- Expanded parking areas
“As well as real, honest-to-goodness restrooms; not port-a-johns,” Hovey added, emphasizing the practical improvements visitors can expect.
Community Engagement
Members of the public will have opportunities to view the visitor center plans at two upcoming events:
- November 18, 2025: Public comment session for the 10-year Rocky Fork Strategic Plan at Erwin Town Hall
- December 8, 2025: Annual Friends of Rocky Fork State Park Membership Meeting featuring presentations by park staff and our architectural team
Reedy & Sykes is honored to contribute to this important project that will serve the community and enhance Rocky Fork State Park for generations to come.
