Reedy & Sykes Architecture and Design is proud to announce our role in designing over $6.4 million in upgrades to Warriors’ Path State Park in Kingsport, Tennessee. The comprehensive renovation project was featured by WJHL News Channel 11, highlighting our vision for modernizing the park’s facilities to better serve its 2 million annual visitors.
“Consistently we’ve been hearing things like ‘your campsites aren’t big enough for today’s RVs, your marina is too small, we don’t know where the Visitor Center is,'” said Sarah Leedy, Warriors’ Path State Park manager, in the WJHL interview.

Our design addresses these concerns through three major improvements:
New Visitor Center The current recreation hall on Duck Island will be transformed into a welcoming visitor center featuring office space for park staff, a gift shop, lobby, and rental assembly space. The redesigned facility will be centrally located in the heart of the park, making it easily accessible to visitors.
Expanded Marina A new, larger marina building will replace the existing structure, offering covered boat slips, a snack bar, gift shop, rentable event space, and public restrooms overlooking the lake.
Modernized Campground The overflow campground will be completely remade with 40 new paved RV campsites designed to accommodate today’s larger recreational vehicles—particularly beneficial during high-demand periods like Bristol race weekend.

Additional improvements include updated park infrastructure with a new water main for fire protection, and renovations to shelters and recreational courts on Duck Island.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2020, with completion anticipated by 2021. The Tennessee Department of General Services plans to open contractor bids later this year.
“We are the playground for the Tri-Cities and we just love it,” said Leedy, expressing enthusiasm for the upcoming transformation.
Reedy & Sykes is honored to partner with the State of Tennessee on this project, creating facilities that will serve the community and enhance the visitor experience for years to come.
