Roan Mountain State Park

In 1999, we designed a 2,100 SF Administrative Office, 6,300 SF Conference Center, and 100-space parking lot for an existing State Park. Working with State representatives, park staff, and consultants, we developed the program and addressed site challenges, including steep access, by designing a cross-slope entrance drive and retention pond. The facilities have successfully served the park for more than 15 years.

In 2014, we upgraded campground sites and amenities at this park and at Davy Crockett Birthplace State Park. Improvements included ADA compliance, expanded RV accommodations, electrical upgrades, water and sewer updates, road and campsite repaving, and new modular restrooms. All work was carefully scheduled within the November 15 to May 15 seasonal closure, with coordinated timelines to ensure timely bidding and construction completion.
