Robert Reedy

For Robert, architecture begins with listening. He co-founded Reedy & Sykes in 1983 with a belief that good design should serve both the client and the builder, and that strong relationships are the foundation of successful projects. Over four decades, he has helped guide educational, civic, commercial, and residential work across the Southeast.

Robert is NCARB certified, LEED accredited, and licensed in Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. He is known for clear communication, steady guidance, and helping clients navigate each step with confidence.

Outside of work, Robert is active in the Rotary Club in Elizabethton, sings in his church choir, enjoys time with his grandchildren, and proudly cheers on the Vols.

Steve Sykes

Steve approaches architecture with curiosity, care, and precision, shaped in part by his passion for aviation. He co-founded Reedy & Sykes in 1983, building a firm grounded in quality design, honest communication, and long-term client relationships.
Steve is NCARB certified and licensed in Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, Colorado, and South Carolina. His work reflects decades of thoughtful collaboration and respect for craft.

Outside the office, Steve enjoys flying, traveling with his wife, and working on the design and construction of their cabin. He is a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, the Archaeological Institute of America, and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Richard Preston

Richard brings 28 years of construction industry experience to Reedy & Sykes as a project manager and estimator. He owns and operates Preston Construction Company in Northeast Tennessee, which has provided general contracting and design-build services since 1967. His expertise spans educational, religious, commercial, office, and industrial projects.

Richard graduated with a professional degree in Architecture from the University of Tennessee. In October 2016, he was recognized with the Business Journal's "40 under Forty" award for his professional achievements.

Richard is married to Holly Preston, and they have five children together. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, watching his children's sporting events, and outdoor activities. He is a member of Hope Church in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Kim Ornduff

With more than 30 years of design experience, Kim brings a refined sense of color, materials, and composition to every project. She joined Reedy & Sykes in 1994 after graduating from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture and has contributed to a wide range of work across the firm.

Kim is known for her attention to detail and ability to blend textures and finishes that elevate both form and function, creating spaces that feel grounded and intentional.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, who is on track for medical school at Quillen College of Medicine, and relaxing in the backyard space she designed around her pool.

Eric Borman

Eric Borman is a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Design and Planning. As the newest addition to the team, he brings valuable experience from the field and has quickly stepped into assisting current projects and conducting code analysis.

His experience ranges from schematic design to construction administration. Prior to joining Reedy & Sykes, Eric worked on medical, educational, and industrial projects, bringing diverse project knowledge to the firm.

In his free time, Eric enjoys kayaking, sailing, camping, and gardening with his family. He also spends time in the shop with his son woodworking and metalworking, building furniture and working on his go-kart.

Beau Begley

Beau brings a fresh perspective and strong technical skill to the Reedy & Sykes team. A 2021 graduate of the University of Tennessee School of Architecture, he works across commercial and residential projects, supporting design through construction drawings, 3D modeling, and coordination with clients and contractors.

He played a key role in the Calvary Church renovations and enjoys helping clients visualize projects early, bridging the gap between concept and construction.

Beau is the unofficial office chef known for his cupcakes and spends warmer months playing softball and other sports.

Kim Vittetoe

Kim joined Reedy & Sykes in 2016 after graduating from East Tennessee State University and plays a key role in the firm’s interiors and visualization work. Her rendering and material selection skills help clients feel confident in early design decisions.

Her passion for interiors began at a young age and continues to guide her focus on creating functional, welcoming spaces.

Outside of work, Kim spends time with her husband and two boys, plays in a local soccer league, and enjoys gardening year-round.

Robin Mottern

Robin Mottern joined Reedy & Sykes as Office Manager in July 2025. She brings more than 20 years of experience in sales enablement, leadership development, and organizational strategy.

Robin has held leadership roles including General Manager at Talexes and strategic positions with Wiley and Profiles International. She is the Founder of BrainSmart EI and OG, Inc., and Co-Founder of The Petra Group and Appalachian Banner Academy, a school serving children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Robin is a Certified Executive Coach with certifications from East Tennessee State University, University of Mary Hardin–Baylor, Hull School of Business, and Cornell University. She blends operational excellence with a people-centric approach in support of Reedy & Sykes' mission and team success.
