Reedy & Sykes partnered with the Tennessee Board of Regents to establish a new extension campus for the Tennessee College of Applied Technology. The project balanced adaptive reuse with new construction to create a comprehensive technical education facility tailored to regional workforce needs.
Phase One: Building 1 – Campus Core The first phase reconfigured an existing school campus through selective demolition and strategic renovation. A 63,000-square-foot round school was demolished, while a 24,000-square-foot classroom addition was retained and renovated to support technical education. A new 4,000-square-foot addition introduced the main entrance, public spaces, and administrative offices. Reedy & Sykes coordinated closely with TBR and campus leadership to organize spaces and translate program goals into a sustainable, technology-focused facility.
Phase Two: Building 2 – Technical Training Facility The second phase expanded the campus with a 25,000-square-foot building dedicated to automotive and diesel education. The facility houses automotive labs with multiple repair bays, diesel labs for tractor trailers, classrooms, and student break areas. Reinforced concrete pads support large equipment operations. Reedy & Sykes coordinated program development and continues construction administration while preparing future phases to complete the campus vision.
An aging elementary school reimagined as a modern technical college, complemented by a purpose-built facility for heavy equipment and hands-on training.
